Our story

Created in Harlem. Built for the next generation.

Founded in 2017 by filmmaker and educator Pedro Resto, Harlem Film School creates a welcoming space where New York City students can learn filmmaking through practice, collaboration, and imagination.

Our programs invite young storytellers behind the camera and into every part of the production process—from writing and directing to camera work, editing, and broadcast production.

More than a class.

01

Hands-on learning

Students learn by making real work with the tools, guidance, and creative freedom to explore.

02

Creative community

We bring together students, educators, families, and partners who believe every voice deserves an audience.

03

Stories with purpose

We champion original perspectives and equip young creators to tell stories that move their communities forward.
